Throughout the entire week, shelters, rescue groups, and humane organizations across the state will be hosting wonderful animal-related special events. Educators, students, businesses and caring citizens across Delaware will be joining in as well, celebrating and helping animals.

Events will include adoption fairs, spay/neuter awareness events, shelter adoption days, R.E.A.D. dog programs in libraries, activities to build awareness for the farm animals and therapy dogs visiting hospitals along with living-assisted homes.

Also to be included are a salute to our K-9 military and working dogs, pet food pantry initiatives and SPRING-filled days for families to come and enjoy food, music and the amazing animals!

Delaware Week for the Animals

Whereas, the mission of Animal World USA is to educate and inspire people to raise awareness for the conservation of animals inhabiting the United States; and

Whereas, Animal World USA developed the State Weeks Campaign back in 2005, in order to bring communities together on behalf of protecting animals; and

Whereas, working with educational institutions, shelters, humane societies, rescue groups, nursing homes, hospitals, legislators, and animal advocates, the State Weeks Campaign has established itself as an advocate of supporting animals; and

Whereas, Delaware Week for the Animals is a celebration which highlights the relationship between Delaware citizens and their animals and

Whereas, Delaware Week for the Animals hopes to provide opportunities for the citizens of Delaware to better understand and care for animals.

Now, Therefore, I, Jack A. Markell, Governor,

do hereby declare April 18th – 26th, 2015

DELAWARE WEEK FOR THE ANIMALS

and urge all Delawareans to appreciate those who work tirelessly every day for the animals in communities across the State of Delaware.
